Unofficial Recap: Bighorns vs. Hawks Sept 22

First Period

The Bighorns started the game strong, making several good shots on goal, but all were blocked by Sheridan Hawks goalie Broxterman. Both teams were testing the water early on, making some really clean plays and solid shots on the goals, keeping both goalies busy.

Johnson was on fire in the first period, making several big saves but ultmately the Hawks scored the first goal of the game at 12:56.

The Bighorns got the first power play of the game after a Hawks penalty for tripping. The period ended with the Hawks leading 1-0 and well over a minute left in the power play. Shots on goal 18-6 by Helena.

Second Period

The Helena Bighorns and Sheridan Hawks traded penalties and goals in the second period, with the period ending tied 2-2.

The Bighorns started the period on a penalty kill, after Joe Feamster (23) was penalized for holding at 18:07. The Bighorns were able to kill off the penalty.

Camden Cunningham (21) scored a goal for the Bighorns at 15:23, assisted by Dylan Cunningham (22) and Garrett Bogan (5). Dylan Cunningham (22) was then penalized for cross checking at 14:32. The Hawks were unable to score on the power play.

Owen Ramsay (4) was hit hard at 11:35, and a scrum broke out between the two teams. Braden Cunningham (19) was penalized for checking from behind at 11:20.

The Hawks failed to capitalize on the power play, then the Bighorns scored a goal by Gavin Barr (24) at 10:05, assisted by Mason Eggen (8) and Fisher Hudson (27).

The Hawks scored another goal at 2:35 to tie the game at 2-2 with 18-5 shots on goal for Helena.

Third Period

The Helena Bighorns defeated the Sheridan Hawks 4-2 in the third period, outscoring them 2-0 and outshooting them 28-5 in the third period.

Trey Pareja (10) scored the first goal of the period for the Bighorns at 18:45, assisted by Jack Lambert (17) and Owen Ramsay (4). Finn Theriault (9) scored the second goal of the period for the Bighorns at 5:05, assisted by Trey Pareja (10) and Dylan Cunningham (22).

The Bighorns outshot the Hawks 28-5 in the period, and they dominated possession of the puck. The Bighorns had a chance to score late in the period, but Barr's shot bounced off the top bar of the goal.

The game ended with the Bighorns winning 4-2 and making a whopping 64 shots on goal to Sheridan's 16.
